What you get

Kanyashree Prakalpa offers two types of benefits: | - Annual Scholarship (K1): A cash benefit of ₹1,000/- is paid annually to the girls in the age group 13 to 18 years (studying in Class VIII equivalent or above for every year that they remain in education, provided they are unmarried at the time.1. One-Time Grant (K2): A grant of ₹25,000/- is paid after a girl turns 18, provided that she was engaged in an academic or occupational pursuit and was unmarried.

Who can apply

In Class VIII or above in a school, madrassah, or equivalent open school course.; In a college or an equivalent open university course.; A Vocational Training Centre, Technical Training Centre, or Industrial Training Centre.; Girls enrolled in Sports Institutes may apply for the One-Time Grant; however, they cannot apply for the Annual Scholarship.

What should I do if I apply for the Annual Scholarship and do not have a birth certificate?

You may ask your head teacher to certify your age from the school's records for the initial application, but you will need to obtain a birth certificate before your scholarship comes up for renewal in the following year.

Who can apply for this scheme?

Only girls who are residents of West Bengal, unmarried, regularly attending educational institutions, and who meet the income or special criteria can apply.

Is there any age limit for applying under this scheme?

Yes, girls aged 13 to 18 can apply for the annual scholarship, while those aged between 18 and 19 can apply for the one-time grant.

Can I apply if I am studying in a madrassah or open school?

Yes, you can apply if you are studying in a madrassah, school, or open school course, provided it is registered and recognised in West Bengal.

I am currently enrolled in a sports institute. Am I eligible for this scheme?

Girls enrolled in sports institutes can apply only for the one-time grant, not the annual scholarship.

Can I apply for this scheme if I am studying in a vocational training centre?

Yes, girls enrolled in vocational, technical, or industrial training centres can apply for both benefits under the scheme.

I have already received the annual scholarship. Do I need to apply again next year?

No, you do not need to reapply. Your Head Teacher will renew it, but you must submit a declaration that you are still unmarried.

How do I apply for the one-time grant once I turn 18?

You must fill out the one-time grant application form and submit all required documents to your current institution.

How do I know which application form to use?

The annual scholarship form (K1) is printed on light green paper, and the one-time grant form (K2) is printed on light blue paper.

If I receive the annual scholarship and change institutions, what happens to my Kanyashree record?

Your previous Head of Institution will have to mark your transfer on the portal; otherwise, your new institution will be unable to process your further applications.
