Assistance for Protected Cultivation

The primary objective of the scheme “Assistance for Protected Cultivation” is to promote sustainable and modern horticultural practices among farmers in Gujarat by providing financial assistance for constructing protected cultivation structures such as mulching, polyhouses, plug nurseries, and self-employment oriented horticulture nurseries.

Any individual who is a resident farmer of Gujarat is eligible to apply under the scheme “Assistance for Protected Cultivation".

The scheme “Assistance for Protected Cultivation” covers several components such as plastic cover (mulching), plug nurseries, shed net houses, polyhouses, and self-employment oriented horticulture nursery structures along with starter kits, each of which has predefined unit costs and assistance limits.

Under the scheme “Assistance for Protected Cultivation,” financial assistance for mulching is provided at ₹32,000/- per hectare in general areas and ₹36,800/- per hectare in hilly areas, which amounts to 50% of the actual expenditure incurred, limited to 1 hectare per beneficiary.

Through the scheme “Assistance for Protected Cultivation,” farmers in the public sector are eligible for up to ₹30,00,000 per hectare for plug nursery development, whereas those in the private sector can receive 50% of the cost or a maximum of ₹15,00,000 per hectare, whichever is lower.

Under the Self-Employment Oriented Horticulture Nursery Development Programme within the scheme “Assistance for Protected Cultivation,” farmers are eligible to receive assistance of ₹3,50,000 per unit for nursery structure development, ₹3,00,000 for a 500 sq.m nursery area, and ₹50,000 per unit for starter kits.
