The scheme aims to bring about all round development of Popular Tiatr through annual competitions. It provides cash prizes and awards to tiatr groups and individual artists performing in traditional tiatr format across Goa.

Who can apply

The applicant must have completed at least 5 performances including Kantaram during the period from 1st April to 31st December.; The applicant must perform in specified auditoriums including Ravindra Bhavan Margao, Gomant Vidya Niketan Margao, Hanuman Natyagraha Mapusa, Kala Academy Panjim, Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir Ponda, Ravindra Bhavan Vasco, Ravindra Bhavan Sanquelim, or Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem.; The applicant must present popular tiatrs having traditional format of the tiatr.; The applicant must maintain the traditional format strictly as specified.; The applicant must communicate the date, time and place of staging of the tiatr in the competition to the organizers at least 15 days in advance from the date of performance.; The applicant must arrange for 6 passes for the Judges and the Organizers at the performance of the Competition show.; The applicant must ensure live music with a band consisting of at least 5 instruments which shall include drums, keyboard, bass, guitar and 2 blowing instruments.; (Optional) The applicant may include child artists up to 12 years of age for special awards in singing and acting.; The tiatr must be strictly presented as per the given traditional format wherever it is staged.; If the format is not maintained, the tiatr will not be eligible for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize, however individual prizes will be given for deserving artists.; The decision to award or not to award the prizes shall depend entirely on the recommendations of the panel of judges.; Political songs should be performed without exceeding the limits of freedom of expression, and criticizing individuals by taking name or displaying images or character assassination will not be allowed.

What is the minimum number of performances required for my tiatr group to be eligible for participation in this competition?

Your tiatr group must have completed at least 5 performances including Kantaram during the period from 1st April 2018 to 31st December 2018 to be eligible for participation.

Can I submit handwritten copies of my script and song lyrics along with the application form for this competition?

No, handwritten copies of scripts and song lyrics will not be accepted. You must submit three typed copies of the script and three typed copies each of the lyrics of the songs.

How much advance notice do I need to give the organizers about my performance schedule during the competition?

You must communicate the date, time and place of staging of your tiatr in the competition to the organizers at least 15 days in advance from the date of performance.

What is the highest cash prize amount that can be won for the best overall performance in this competition?

The highest cash prize is ₹2,00,000/- along with a memento for the 1st Prize in the performance category.

Are there any specific auditoriums where I must have performed to qualify for participation in this annual competition?

Yes, you must have completed your 5 shows in specified auditoriums including Ravindra Bhavan Margao, Gomant Vidya Niketan Margao, Hanuman Natyagraha Mapusa, Kala Academy Panjim, Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir Ponda, Ravindra Bhavan Vasco, Ravindra Bhavan Sanquelim, or Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem.

What documents do I need to submit along with my application form to participate in this cultural competition?

You need to submit self-attested copies of Aadhaar Card and Permanent Account Number Card along with your application form.

Can my band members and technical crew participate in performances with multiple tiatr groups during the same competition?

Artists, technicians and backstage artists can participate in only one group and one tiatr. However, musicians and stage setting personnel can participate in more than 2 tiatrs.

What happens if my script is based on another writer's story and I want to participate in this competition?

If your script is based on another writer's story, you must obtain a No Objection Certificate from that writer and submit it along with your application.

How many complimentary passes do I need to arrange for the judges and organizers during my performance?

You must arrange for 6 passes for the judges and organizers at the performance of your competition show.

What is the maximum age limit for child artists to be eligible for special awards in this competition?

Child artists up to 12 years of age are eligible for special awards in singing and acting categories.

Will I receive any compensation for participating in this competition even if I don't win any prizes?

Yes, you will receive ₹5,000/- only if you give consent to video record your performance, and the video recording expenditure will be borne by the organizing body.

What are the minimum instrumental requirements for the live music band that must accompany my tiatr performance?

Your live music band must consist of at least 5 instruments including drums, keyboard, bass, guitar and 2 blowing instruments.

Can I include political songs in my tiatr performance without facing any restrictions or disqualification from the competition?

Political songs are allowed as they are a tradition of tiatr, but you cannot criticize individuals by taking names, displaying images, or engaging in character assassination, as this will lead to disqualification.

What will happen if I fail to maintain the traditional format of tiatr during my performance in the competition?

If you don't maintain the traditional format, your tiatr will not be eligible for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, however individual prizes will still be given for deserving artists.
