Grant of Stipends to the Physically Handicapped Students

The scheme aims to improve the educational status of physically handicapped children studying in classes I to X by providing financial assistance to parents who are otherwise unable to send their children to school due to economic reasons.

To be eligible: | The student must be a bonafide resident of Goa. | The student must be a regular student at a recognized school. | The combined income of the parents/guardian should not exceed [?]25,000 per annum. | The student must not be residing in or receiving maintenance from any government, local body, or grant-aided private institution. | The student should not be receiving any other stipend or scholarship from another source. | All handicapped children from the same family are eligible, provided they meet the conditions.

The applicant must fulfil the physical handicap criteria specified under Rule 4 and Rule 5 of the scheme's rules.

Students repeating a grade are generally not eligible for the stipend. However, one failure can be condoned at the discretion of the Director.

The stipend is paid for the full academic year, which is 11 months and is disbursed in two instalments--one in September and the second in January.
