The scheme aims to encourage the development of Tiatr by providing a platform for children aged up to 16 years to participate in traditional Konkani theatre productions. The scheme benefits Educational Institutions, Sports and Cultural Associations, and Individual Producers.

What you get

Who can apply

The applicant must be an Educational Institution, Sports and Cultural Association, or Individual Producer.; The applicant must ensure all child performers are aged up to 16 years on the date fixed for submission of application.; The applicant must ensure themes of Tiatr are compulsorily based on the lives of children only.; The applicant must ensure the duration of the tiatr is not less than one hour and a half and not more than two hours and a half (including interval of minimum 10 minutes and maximum 15 minutes).; The applicant must present the Tiatr in the traditional format as approved by Tiatr Academy of Goa.; The applicant must ensure the Tiatr has 6 to 7 acts (podd'dde) with at least 4 cantos.; The applicant must ensure comedy is linked to the story of the play.; The applicant must include at least 8 Kantaram which should include 1 duet (Interactive), 1 Duo (Interactive), 1 Trio (Interactive), 1 Quartet/Quintet (Interactive), 1 Choral Song and Solos.; The first three award winners of the previous year's Children Tiatr Competition will get a direct entry into this festival, provided their entries are received before due date.; Not more than 2 shows of the given script must have been performed prior to the performance at the competition.; No adverse remarks against any Governments, Individuals, Institutions or anything against caste, creed and religion in the scripts, lyrics of songs, performances, or speeches.; Artistes including technicians and backstage artistes whose names appear in the submitted list shall be permitted to participate only under that troupe (Only musicians can take part in more than one troupe).

What is the maximum age limit for child performers who want to participate in this theatrical competition?

All child performers must be aged up to 16 years on the date fixed for submission of application.

How much refundable security deposit do we need to submit along with our application for participation?

You must submit a refundable security deposit of ₹3,000/- in the form of cash or a Demand Draft in favour of Member Secretary, Tiatr Academy of Goa payable at Panaji.

What specific format requirements must our theatrical production follow to be considered for this competition?

Your Tiatr must have 6 to 7 acts (podd'dde) with at least 4 cantos, comedy linked to the story, and at least 8 Kantaram including specified interactive components.

Can we stage our script at other venues before participating in this competition organized by the Academy?

Not more than 2 shows of the given script must have been performed prior to the performance at the competition.

What type of themes are acceptable for our theatrical production in this children-focused competition?

Themes of Tiatr should be compulsorily based on the lives of children only, and scripts having no relevance to children's lives will not be considered.

How many Educational Institutions, Sports and Cultural Associations, or Individual Producers can participate in this annual competition?

15 Educational Institutions, Sports and Cultural Associations, or Individual Producers will be given an opportunity to participate in the production and staging.

What happens if we withdraw from the competition after the schedule has been finalized by the organizing authority?

If any applicant withdraws after the schedule is drawn by Tiatr Academy of Goa, their full security deposit will stand forfeited.

What is the minimum and maximum duration requirement for our theatrical performance including the interval period?

The duration should not be less than one hour and a half and not more than two hours and a half, including an interval of minimum 10 minutes and maximum 15 minutes.

When do we need to submit the final typed copy of our script and songs before the competition begins?

The final typed copy of the script and songs (kantaram) must be submitted during office hours 3 days before the date of commencement of the competition.

What documents do we need to provide to prove the age of all our child performers for eligibility verification?

You must submit self-attested copies of Birth or Baptism Certificates, or a certificate by the Headmaster or Headmistress of a recognized school certifying the birth date.

How will the selection process work if more than the allowed number of applications are received for participation?

If more than 15 applications are received, a meeting will be called and the selection of remaining 12 troupes will be done by lots.

What specific interactive musical components must be included in our theatrical production according to the competition guidelines?

Your production must include at least 8 Kantaram with 1 duet (Interactive), 1 Duo (Interactive), 1 Trio (Interactive), 1 Quartet or Quintet (Interactive), 1 Choral Song and Solos.

Are there any restrictions on the content we can include in our scripts, lyrics, or performances during the competition?

There should not be any adverse remarks against any Governments, Individuals, Institutions or anything against caste, creed and religion that may hurt anyone's sentiments.

Can our technical crew members and musicians work with multiple participating groups in the same competition?

Artistes including technicians and backstage artistes can participate only under one troupe, but musicians can take part in more than one troupe.
