Who can apply

The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam.; The applicant must belong to the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Community.; The applicant must produce a valid Caste certificate which is duly certified or issued by the District Commissioner of the concerned district or his or her designated officer.; The applicant must submit an undertaking on the annual family income stating that it is not exceeding ₹5,00,000/- per annum.; The Pre-Matric Scholarship is awarded to students from Class 9th to Class 10th.; The Post-Matric Scholarship is awarded to students pursuing studies from Class 11th to normal Three Years Degree Courses (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science, Integrated Graduate plus Post Graduate courses like integrated Master of Business Administration / Bachelor of Arts-Bachelor of Law / Bachelor of Arts-Bachelor of Education / Master of Social Work, etc.).; The scholarships are available for all recognized post-matriculation or post-secondary courses in recognized institutions.; All children of the same parents or guardians are eligible.; Students studying through correspondence course are also eligible to apply.

Common Questions

Is a student receiving any other form of stipend or scholarship funds from a different Government Department simultaneously eligible for this benefit?

No. The student awarded this scholarship shall not hold any other scholarship or stipend that has been disbursed by any other Government Department.

If I qualify for the Post-Matriculation Scholarship, is there any restriction on me applying for or receiving benefits from other schemes implemented by the department?

Yes, the applicant eligible for the Post-Matriculation Scholarship will generally not be eligible for other schemes in the same year. The sole exception is the "Simon Sing Horo (Special Post-Matric) Scholarship," provided the applicant is otherwise eligible for that scheme.

What are the primary residency and community requirements mandatory for an applicant to successfully qualify for receiving the benefits?

The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam. Additionally, the student must belong to the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Community.

If a student has been detained in a particular class during the previous academic session, will they be allowed to reapply for this scholarship while repeating the same class?

No. If a student is detained in a specific class, he or she shall not be considered eligible to apply for this scholarship for the identical class a second time.

Coverage extends from Class XI up to normal Three Years Degree Courses, such as Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce, or Bachelor of Science. Integrated Graduate plus Post Graduate courses like integrated Master of Business Administration / Bachelor of Arts-Bachelor of Law / Bachelor of Arts-Bachelor of Education / Master of Social Work are also covered.

Are there any specific types of higher education or specialized courses that are explicitly excluded from eligibility for this financial assistance?

Yes. The scholarships are explicitly not available for identified Higher Studies courses. They are also not available for Vocational 3 (three) years Degree Courses or their equivalent.

What evidence must I present during the application process to confirm my current academic enrollment status?

The applicant must produce a recommendation letter from the Headmaster or Principal. Alternatively, the applicant can submit their valid admission or fee receipts.

What is the scope of the Pre-Matriculation Scholarship portion of the scheme regarding the student's current enrollment class?

The Pre-Matriculation Scholarship is awarded specifically to students currently enrolled in Class IX (9) up to Class X (10).

Does the number of siblings or children from the same household affect the eligibility or limit how many can receive this financial benefit?

No. A special provision states that all children belonging to the same parents or guardians are eligible to apply for the scheme.

Which types of educational institutions must my post-matriculation or post-secondary course be enrolled in for me to be considered eligible?

The scholarships are available only for all recognized post-matriculation or post-secondary courses. These courses must be pursued in institutions that are recognized by the appropriate authorities.

What is the maximum annual family income threshold established for applicants to be considered eligible for financial assistance under this scholarship scheme?

The annual family income of the applicant’s family must not exceed ₹5,00,000/- (Rupees Five Lakh) per annum. This information must be submitted via an undertaking provided by the Parent or Guardian.

Am I eligible to apply for this financial assistance if I am currently attending pre-examination training or coaching sponsored by the Government?

No. Students who are undergoing coaching in any of the pre-examination training centers, especially those receiving financial assistance from the Government, are not eligible.

Is it permissible for an applicant to submit multiple scholarship applications from various Sub-Divisions during the same application cycle?

No. The application guidelines strictly state that in no case shall students who apply repeatedly from different Sub-Divisions be considered for the scholarships.
